Intoduction

The websites blog.yannakas.me, lawyer.yannakas.me, clients.yannakas.me, cloud.yannakas.me, and stats.yannakas.me are operated in the context of my legal practice in the Republic of Cyprus. I act as Legal Consultant and Litigation Lawyer on a freelancer basis through the Law Office of Panayotis C. Yannakas. This text serves as the General Agreement for clients and/or readers and/or visitors and/or users. It supplements any other written or oral agreement between us, unless a specific clause expressly provides otherwise.

How to make a request (including access, rectification, or erasure)

Any request (including a request to delete or edit personal data) may be sent to panayotis@yannakas.me. Please provide a detailed message that specifically identifies the data you allege I hold and the action you seek. I will reply in plain terms and in good faith.

Professional rules that govern our relationship

Our relationship is governed primarily by the Code of Conduct for Cyprus Lawyers (Κ.Δ.Π. 237/2002, as amended), together with applicable Cyprus law

Use of data: no sale to third parties; limited internal analytics

Your data will never be used for the benefit of third-party companies or partners. However, I may combine data, interactions and/or engagment for purposes of my personal understanding and for producing marketing insights, benchmarks, and metrics concerning my professional services and the publication of free content in the Public Domain. Such combination may be performed by me personally, by employees, by marketing agents appointed by me, or by software and digital services engaged by me.

Privacy tiers

  1. Readers and users of online services, including users interacting with my personal and professional social-media profiles, are covered by the GDPR. On average, requests to process and/or delete such data are handled within 3 business days.
  2. Prospective clients and out-of-court clients are covered by the GDPR and the Lawyers’ Code of Conduct. Typically, requests to process and/or delete such data are handled within 3 business days.
  3. Billing and invoicing data are governed by the tax code of the Republic of Cyprus. Processing and/or deletion (where permitted) is usually completed within 14 days.
  4. Litigation-related data are collected for pleading and case-management purposes and are not subject to alteration and/or deletion.
  5. KYC/AML data are collected for compliance purposes and are not subject to alteration and/or deletion.

Storage location, archive delays, and cost recovery

For digital data and the right of access, I reserve the right to archive these data in cold storage outside EFTA and the EU/EEA. Access to such archives (including the provision of copies) may take up to 90 days and may involve recovery of actual costs, bandwidth charges, and/or reasonable administrative fees.

Emails

General: The information contained in my electronic messages and any attachments is intended exclusively for the named addressee and may be confidential or privileged. If you are not the intended addressee, you must not disclose, reproduce, or forward the message. Please delete all copies (including attachments) and notify me at panayotis@yannakas.me.

Regulation: I practice law under the supervision and rules of the Cyprus Bar Association and the law of the Republic of Cyprus.

Reservation of rights: The substance and/or cover content of my messages is communicated strictly without prejudice to any rights, claims, or legal positions, notwithstanding any statement to the contrary. Binding commitments on behalf of me or my clients are made only via digitally verified and signed PDF documents and/or physically signed and scanned PDF/A documents. No other mode of communication constitutes a binding undertaking.

Technical notice: While I apply reasonable measures expected of a freelancer to keep messages and attachments free of malware, I reserve the right to enable SMTP features and/or embed tracking mechanisms (using semantic languages) to monitor delivery and read receipts. Electronic communications may be forwarded (including by BCC) to third-party AI agents for secretarial assistance. I cannot warrant that data exchanged to or from this address will be stored exclusively within EFTA or Europe, nor that it will not be deep-archived in cold storage and/or as long data streams. Retrieval may involve substantial delays (up to 90 days), actual costs, bandwidth, and/or administrative fees.

Cookies

I fully disagree with the EU’s “opt-in” privacy philosophy; “opt-out” approaches have shown superior results. I reject Directive 2002/58/EC and Regulation (EU) 2016/679 to the extent they impose disproportionate administrative burdens on freelancers professionals and small businesses. Cookie banners degrade aesthetics, add needless friction, and ignore that targeting algorithms keep improving year by year. Requiring such notices is like forcing a small shopkeeper to seek separate consent each time customers need to inhale, merely because the shopkeeper cannot afford new high-tech air-filtration systems like large malls, making the particle ratio in the air uncertain. Since the Netscape era, users have had adequate tools and settings to protect themselves from cookies—states should protect citizens not only from traditional illiteracy but also from digital illiteracy. That said, I inform you that these websites use cookies—standard, commercial-grade cookies such as Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and Stripe.com POS.

For further control, you can use the panels “Change privacy settings” & “Revoke consents“.
